Total Previous Month as card i.e. no filter context

How do I display the previous month's total value (sales, units, whatever) as a Card visual in PowerBI, where there is no external filter context? So nothing like a column chart with axis showing month/year. Just a solitary number. I know I need to get the filter context into the formula but I can't...

Re: Sales/Stock - Future Value

Thanks Matt, this has worked for me. Last question: I know from the off you said no need to have a relationship between calendar and fact table. But I can't figure out why when that relationship is made active on your book (relationship between calendar and Details, either direction but I did calend...

Re: Sales/Stock - Future Value

Thanks for taking the time to look at this. I've tried your solution but I think it misses what I'm after (if I'm wrong, apologies. I am aware of my beginner status). It is a report I need: I need to be able to see, and present to the team daily (hence using BI), the current and future sales pipelin...

Re: Sales/Stock - Future Value

Thanks for the link I think what I have in my head isn't possible. I have the sales value and I can divide it by the term to give the per month value. So column b is 12,000 and column c is 1000. In my head I was thinking I need a measure that will sum the per month column value taking into considera...

Re: Sales/Stock - Future Value

I'm actually doing it in PowerBi. I'm trying to produce a sales pipeline dashboard. I have 8 sales people completing their own workbooks with quotes issued, closed value etc etc. Then my own book that uses query to consolidate the workbooks. Then powerBI to bring it all together and present it. I'll...

Sales/Stock - Future Value

Hi all I have an issue for which I can find no answer; I don't even know if it's possible, or I'm searching incorrectly. Let's say our business receives an order for 12,000 units on 01/03/16, but these units are to be delivered in increments of 1000 pieces on the 1st of every month for 12 months. Am...

Re: Bill of Materials (BoM)

I saw your blog this week; really helpful.

And you got in ahead of the sqlbi chaps - it's been pending on daxpatterns for ages: [http://www.daxpatterns.com/bill-of-materials]

Re: Bill of Materials (BoM)

Wow, that seems so simple. I've re-written it in my actual workbook at it works a treat. Understood on the master product column - this has highlighted a bigger issue in our product nomenclature which I am going to fix. Matt, can't thank you enough. If you're ever near Leeds (north UK) I will buy yo...
