Context transition example on pg 79 not working for me

Postby Jen » Thu Feb 18, 2016 9:19 am

On pg 79, I couldn't get the calculated column example to work:

=SUM(Sales[ExtendedAmount]) "correctly" gives me a column of 29358677.220702...
=CALCULATE(SUM(Sales[ExtendedAmount])) gives me a column of blanks, not the expected total sales for each product
What am I doing wrong?

I'm getting the same error right now...blank column when I wrap the SUM(Sales[ExtendedAmount]) in the CALCULATE function...I don't know why it's doing that...

I'm also getting a blank column when wrapping with with the Calculate function in the Products table. However, if I do this in the Sales table i get results. So are we doing something wrong, or are we doing it in the wrong table?

Scroll down the Products table - it is likely the visible rows at the top of the table have no sales, therefore are blank (ie 0). You should see values as you scroll through the Products table.

Cheers

Thanks PhilC. You are correct.
