Importing PowerPivot created in Excel into Power BIDesktop

Postby Frank » Thu Mar 02, 2017 10:01 am

I have been doing a bit of work with PowerPivot in excel and have created a number of fairly sophisticated Models and reports using DAX measures. Having read all the good stuff about Power Bi, I have decided that its time for me to get on board and learn how it all comes together in BI. However I have not been able to import my PowerPivot reports into Power Bi desktop getting an error each time. Below is a portion of the error. I guess what I trying to determine is… Can we build PowerPivot reports using DAX in excel then bring them into Power BI or do we have to start with in Power BI?

You definitely can migrate from Excel to Power BI. Are you using file import in Power Bi? What version of Excel are you running.
