DirectQuery in PowerBI - converting old Excel PowerPivot Models

Postby Jørgen Wulff » Tue May 23, 2017 7:00 pm

I have a number of Power Pivot Models, that works fine in Excel, but they are +50MB, so I want to convert them to Power BI (to create a single source to update), but I also want to create the models as direct queries.

Does anyone have experience in doing this, and what are the disadvantages?

I tried to import from Excel, but it seems like I can not change to direct query, and If I start building my direct query, I am missing my possibilities to create functions in the Edit Query part of Power BI.

So any help or suggestions for an easy workaround are welcome.

regards

Jørgen

You can't change from a traditional power pivot to direct query.
