Postby h_gp9 » Fri May 12, 2017 4:05 am

This message appear when after to edit the connection I want to refresh data of this connection. "We couldn't refresh the connection. Please go to existing connections and verify they connect to the file or server".

Basically I want to do is change the data connection in other workbook preserving my data model of power pivot.

What happens when you click on "existing connections" Can you see the connection? Can you then Edit the connection? That is where you manage this

Dear Matt:
Let's assume that you work with pivot table and you want to change the source of data. You must do following steps in excel:
Analyze → Change Data Source → Select a table or range and normally push Refresh button and our data has been updated.

Now talking about power pivot based on data model I go to: Manage Data Model → Existing Conexion button→ Edit conexion and I close Manage Data Model.
The problem occurs when I try to refresh my Pivot Data Model with: Data→Refresh and finally I get : "We couldn't refresh the connection"

This is what I was trying to suggest

from Excel, goto Manage
Home\Existing Connections
Select one of your data sources, then click Edit.
Then click Test Connection. Does the Test pass or fail? If it fails, then browse for the correct location of the source.
Repeat for all sources.

Dear Matt:
When I run the test it is ok. Doesn't make error in this step.
Occurs error when I need to see the new data and then I push "Refresh"

OK. What happens if you open a new blank workbook and try to make a new connection to the same data source? Does that connect?

I don't want to lose my structured file because this file is the source of other. That's why I only want to update it.
